If you’re keeping a close eye on the bottom line, there are cost-effective MBA options available. Traditionally, this is an expensive degree, and can represent a sizeable investment in your future. But there are options available. Consider whether your employers may consider helping to fund your MBA or whether you might be able to use a FEE-HELP student loan.
When you’re thinking about the cost of your degree, don’t forget to factor in other costs, like textbooks, even studying overseas if this is an option. Understand your ‘break-even’ point, where the benefits you get from your MBA (getting paid more!) overtake the amount you’ll pay for the degree.
Don’t be put off applying for an MBA if you don’t have an undergraduate degree. Your experience may meet the criteria for admission into an MBA, even if you don’t have an undergraduate qualification.
When you’re researching MBA options, you’ll often see accreditation mentioned. This is one way to determine the quality of a qualification. When a degree is accredited, the provider is evaluated for things like teaching standards, service delivery and student outcomes.
There are a wide range of accreditations available, granted by national and international organisations. Three that you’ll commonly see mentioned are international accreditations, and highly-sought after, from AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS.
Notable accreditations
Curtin Business school is AACSB certified. AACSB accreditation is awarded to business schools that meet the strict standards of quality academic and professional excellence and is known, worldwide, as the longest standing, most recognised form of academic accreditation an institution and its business programs can earn.
The UNISA Business School is one of just nine institutions in Australia, and 169 globally, to be accredited by EQUIS. five-Star MBA (Awarded by the Graduate Management Association of Australia (GMAA).
RMIT has been given a 5-star rating by the Graduate Management Association of Australia and is European Foundation for Management Development accredited.
Some MBA courses are structured so that you can exit early and still get a professional qualification. This means that if your circumstances changed, your study can still be recognised, generally with a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma. This also means that you could return to complete your MBA later on, with credit for what you’ve already completed.
Some MBAs have an option to choose elective units, enabling you to tailor the degree to your specific field or interest area. Some don’t allow this- but if you’re looking for a ‘traditional’ MBA, this might better suit your needs.

When you’ve made your choice, click ‘Apply now’ on the relevant course page and follow the prompts to begin your enrolment. We’ll ask you to supply some supporting documentation, including proof of your identity, your tax file number, and a unique student identifier (USI) during this process.

Entry pathways
You might not have an undergraduate degree, but your extensive work experience could meet the criteria for admission into a Graduate Certificate of Business. Complete just 4 subjects and you can move to an MBA—and get credit for those subjects too!
Exit points
When life changes, your studies should be flexible enough to change with you. If you’ve met the requirements, you can step away from your MBA and still graduate with a postgraduate qualification: 4 subjects for a Graduate Certificate, or 8 subjects for a Graduate Diploma.

With two milestones along the way, we won’t let your hard work go unrecognised. You can build your MBA starting with a Graduate Certificate, followed by a Graduate Diploma. Upon successful completion of around 12 subjects, you’ll graduate with a Masters of Business Administration. If you’re bringing relevant study or work experience with you to your MBA, you can enter with credit and complete your MBA degree even faster.
